Objectives

To review the current state of evidence for the nursing treatment of cancer-related dyspnea.

Data Sources

Nursing and medical literature, published guidelines, and Cochrane Systematic reviews.

Conclusion

Limited evidence exists for the current strategies used to treat dyspnea among persons with cancer.

Implications for Nursing Practice

Nurses must be cognizant of the level of evidence or the lack of scientific evidence supporting treatment strategies used.
