To review the treatment options for advanced or metastatic bladder cancer, including novel agents.

Data Sources

Research literature and clinical trial data.

Conclusion

Knowledge of current and novel therapies for the treatment of advanced or metastatic bladder cancer is essential in caring for patients in this stage of disease, for whom options are relatively limited.

Implications for Nursing Practice

Oncology nurses can play an important role in assessing patients for appropriate treatments, including enrollment in clinical trials of new agents.
